I-70 Series Preview

Published by Sarah Davis

The slumping Royals will face the hot Cards in a home and home series this week. The Royals will go to Saint Louis for the first two, and then make their way back to Kansas City on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Royals will look to young lefty, Danny Duffy to get the ball rolling. Duffy hasn't been very sharp in his last three starts, going 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA. Cardinals starter, Shelby Miller has similar stats going 1-2 with a 5.82 ERA in his last three. The Royals have never seen Miller, so expect a dominant pitching performance from him.

The final game in Saint Louis will feature James Shields and Jaime Garcia. Shields, in 1 start against the Cards is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA. Garcia not much better with an 0-1 record, and a 7.30 ERA. If the Royals are going to win any games this series, it will be this one, but only because of Ryan's shirt.

Back in KC, Jason Vargas and Adam Wainwright will square off. Being that Wainwright is 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA in his last three starts, the Royals stand absolutely no chance. It's my hope that Mike Moustakas will hit two doubles, so we can have the "Vargy pitched good." line again. That was my favorite.

To close out the series, will (assuming he's healthy) be Yordano Ventura. If not, please DO NOT let it be Aaron Brooks. That guy is atrocious. If it is Yordano, this will be a good old-fashioned pitchers duel. Sadly, I think Michael Wacha will win the duel.

Overall, I think the Royals will lose 3 out of 4, and in the next 8 games will go 4-4 (because according to me, taking 3 out 4 from the Yanks, and taking 1 from the Cards is a 2-6 record. It's not.) I really hope KC left their offense up in Canada. Should be an interesting series.
