Royals Do Not Vote For Pedro

Published by Sarah Davis

Pedro Grifol is now out as the Royals hitting coach. Kansas City says that he has been "reassigned" but we all know that pretty much means that he was fired. Taking over for Grifol will be Royals third base coach, Dale Svuem.

Dale Svuem is now the 6th hitting coach during the Ned Yost's tenure as manager. This quote coming from Danny Parkins on 610 sports, "There are 3 guys on this boat: Dayton Moore, Ned Yost, and Pedro Grifol. Pedro Grifol was the easiest to throw overboard." I completely agree with Parkins. Ned Yost has remained the only constant during these 6 hitting coaches short careers with the Royals. The Royals refuse to fire Ned Yost. Ned Yost is 3rd all time in managers with the worst record who have managed at least 1500 games. The Royals have ABSOLUTELY no accountability for Ned Yost, or this Royals team.

What reason does Dayton Moore have for not firing Ned Yost? None. Dayton Moore has absolutely no good reason for keeping Ned Yost. It was exactly one year ago tomorrow that the Royals fired hitting coaches Andre David and Jack Maloof, and brought in George Brett and Pedro Grifol. I see this season going in a very 2013 kind of way with the exception of being 10 games over .500 mark.

Grifol's reassignment was to 'catching instructor.' Dale Svuem will move from 3rd base coach to hitting coach, and Mike Jirschele will take over for Svuem at third.
