How it Feels to Wake up in First Place
If you didn't know, the Kansas City Royals now sit atop the AL Central after nabbing first place from the Detroit Tiggers, (I meant Tigers, but did I really?)
Yesterday, I wrote an article for another website that I write for, and you can all check that out: http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/18/around-the-league-american-league-central/ and my prediction came true. Kansas City did indeed take first place, and the Tigers ship is indeed sinking fast.
I have to say, waking up and seeing that your team is in first place this late in the season since 2003 is a marvelous feeling. Even if you didn't sleep because you were so excited, this is a feeling that has never been experienced, or hasn't been in a really long time. For me, this is a first time feeling. I felt like going outside and shouting at the top of my lungs (I assure, I stayed indoors for that.) This is a feeling I may never have again, and I would like to soak in every minute of it.
The thing about being in first place this early in the season, is that it probably won't last. What are the fans supposed to do if we lose today? Do we curl up into a ball and cry? Do we riot, and burn things? Do we simply just relax because the Royals can take first place again? I'm not sure what to do.
Oh well. Who cares, right? I say, to heck with the haters! Let's just enjoy this while we can. As Kansas City fans, this may not last, partly because the baseball god's don't think we deserve nice things anymore, and partly because Dayton Moore is the General Manager of this ball club. Oh well. Come on, guys! Let's go cause ruckus in the streets of our neighborhoods. Onward!
