Astros Series Preview

Published by Sarah Davis

The Royals will look to Yordano Ventura to start the series against the Astros. Yordano Ventrura has dominated the Astros in this 2014 season. Ventura is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA. Bad news for the Astros: Yordano's counterpart is Scott Feldman, who in the last 3 starts against the Royals is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA. Good news for the Astros: The Royals have no offense. More good news for the Astros: Yordano Ventura does not have a win at Kauffman Stadium in his short career.

Next, the Royals will hand the ball off the Jeremy Guthrie. That doesn't entirely give me a warm, fuzzy feeling. Guthrie hasn't been too sharp against Houston in his career. Guthrie has a 2-1 record with a 5.18 ERA overall against the Astros. Houston will be sending Charlie Hough to the mound. KC has never seen Hough, so it's my guess, like every other time we face a pitcher we've never seen before, we'll make him look like Cy Young.

The wrap things up for Kansas City, Danny Duffy will head to the mound. Against the Astros, Duffy is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Like with Hough, the Astros will be throwing a guy that the Royals have never seen. Clearly, Duffy has the better numbers, but with our wonderful offense, it should be interesting.

Royals manager, Ned Yost says that Infante is likely to rejoin the team for this Houston Series.

Royals new starting third baseman, Danny Valencia will likely miss 2-3 games after appearing to injure his hand in the 13th inning of Saturday's victory against the Angels.

Right fielder, Nori Aoki sat yesterday with a sore elbow after being hit with a CJ Wilson fastball on Friday night. It is unclear whether Aoki will start tonight.

I predict that the Royals will take the series 2-1. Hopefully the Royals left their subpar offense back in Anaheim, and have made it back home with an offense that knows how to produce. My amazingly talented partner, Ryan will have tonight's recap. Hopefully he will have nice things to say about Yordano's outing, but it's Ryan, and he hardly ever has nice things to say about the Royals.
