The Wait Is Over

Published by Sarah Davis

You did it. You made it five months without baseball. The wait is over, and I'm glad it is. In less than 24 glorious hours, my face will be buried in the TV watching Royals baseball on Fox Sports Kansas City.

The Royals will face the Detroit Tigers. A Royals win would be the fist Opening Day win since 2008. A run scored will be the first run scored on Opening Day since 2011. Taking the hill for the Royals will be James Shields. Shields was the Opening Day starter last year at U.S. Cellular Field where he took a 1-0 loss against the White Sox. Justin Verlander will be on the bump for the Detroit Tigers. Verlander has faced the Royals twice on Opening Day, taking no decisions both times. Many expected teammate Max Scherzer to start for the Tigers, but Verlander has started every Opening Day game since 2008. Should be an interesting match up.

There is no doubt in my mind that the 2014 season will be a fun one. There may not be a 'Blue October' but you can bet your bottom dollar that we will be in it until the very end. Gear up, Royals fans. Baseball is back.
